About Rudra Abhishek Puja
Rudrabhishek is the ritual bathing of the Shivling while the Sri Rudram is chanted. Pandit ji performs abhishek with water, milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar, followed by bel patra, other offerings and aarti.
Rudra is the fierce and compassionate aspect of Shiva. Rudrabhishek is one of the most widely performed Shaiva rituals, done for peace, good health, harmony at home and relief from graha-related troubles. Each substance used in the abhishek carries its own meaning.

Pooja vidhi, step by step
Sankalp, Ganesh and Kalash Puja
The puja begins with a resolve, worship of Ganesh and installation of a kalash.
Shiva Avahan and Dhyan
Lord Shiva is invited and meditated upon with mantras.
Abhishek
The Shivling is bathed with water, then milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar and Ganga jal while Rudri path is recited.
Bel Patra and Offerings
Bel patra, flowers, sandalwood and vibhuti are offered.
Havan (optional)
A havan with Rudra mantras can be added on request.
Aarti and Prasad
The puja closes with Shiva aarti and prasad.
Samagri commonly needed

Best time and muhurat
Mondays, Pradosh (trayodashi evening), the month of Shravan (Sawan) and Maha Shivratri are the most favoured. Pandit ji also checks Shiv Vaas, where Shiva resides on that tithi, so the abhishek is done at the best time.

Do we need a Shivling at home?
If you do not have one, I can bring a Shivling for the puja. Please mention it when booking.
How long does a Rudrabhishek take?
A standard Rudrabhishek takes about one and a half to two hours. A longer path with havan can take up to three hours. I will confirm the time when you book.
