Kaal Sarp Dosh is said to arise in a birth chart when all seven planets lie between Rahu and Ketu. The nivaran puja worships Lord Shiva, the Naga devatas and Rahu–Ketu, and ends with a silver naga-nagin pair being offered.
According to astrological tradition, this yoga can bring recurring delays or obstacles in career, marriage, family and health. Nag Panchami, Amavasya and Panchami are considered strong days for the remedy. Trimbakeshwar (near Nashik) and Ujjain are well-known sites for this puja, and it can also be performed at home.
